For some the emotions constitute the primary indication of love. Then when they have lost these emotions… ”Disaster! All is lost!” “I no longer feel anything (perhaps I even feel revulsion).” (He only had emotions, now with these transitory feelings gone nothing is left.) But love is not lost, in truth it had hardly begun! Now is not the time to quit, fortunate soul, you have reached the gateway; now is the time to begin! “I can do all things in him who strengthens me” (Phil 4:13) Now is the moment to begin to love as an Act of the will! To make the decision to love. Desire dear soul… and foster… the will to love! Now that you have reached a point where your kind acts, your kind words, your kind looks, can be given not because you receive, and not out of raw desire, but because you have decided to truly love, to truly make a gift of yourself to the other, you are at the gateway of loving as God loves. Purely, for the sake of the other. Start where you are, but now see all things new. All of our acts occur in the now, not in the past, not in the future, redeem for love the now, redeem the present, the now, now and from now on.
